Principal’s Message

March 18, 2020

Dear Mattos Families,

Thank you for working with us as we navigate the current school closures and prepare for remote learning. As of this moment, due to the recent closing of several counties, we expect to be out until April 7, 2020 but this could change as events unfold. Please look to our FUSD website for the most up to date announcements and comprehensive resources district- wide. Our Mattos Eagles Updates will be updated as soon as our team receives the latest communications.

This current reality is new for all of us and I’m grateful to the Mattos Team for working together to create and distribute lessons for continued learning. Every teacher, in each team, prepared for students to move forward with current studies and projects as well as links to learning sites, online lessons, and resources. Although it was a quick turn-around teachers checked out Chrome Books to students with an identified need and/or provided hard copy packets last Friday.

Thank you to parents who arranged to pick up work Monday if their student or students were absent. At the time none us knew we would not be returning on Tuesday. Parents should also have heard from their teachers via a notice, call, email, Class Dojo or Bloomz regarding lessons as well. If you have not heard from your teacher or have questions regarding your child’s lessons please email your child’s teacher directly. Our staff contacts are listed here on our website and all of us are working remotely to assist everyone.

At times like this it’s a good idea to remain calm and positive. By working together, focusing on positivity, and keeping to a regular schedule or practice, we can all make sure children feel safe and continue learning. Many teachers have sent possible schedules to assist parents with keeping students active and involved but not overwhelmed. Use these at your discretion and don’t forget to take a recess and have a healthy lunch.

I have been reaching out to families and have been communicating via email in response to general questions and concerns. Parents as always are also welcome to reach out to me by phone at my direct line (510) 793-1359 ext. 65102 which I can access remotely or through my email:

Please remember to check the FUSD and Mattos Websites regularly. Stay safe and be well. I appreciate you all as the wonderful partners you have always shown yourselves to be and the wonderful parents, grandparents, and guardians that you are. Please be mindful that to be at your best for your families you must care for yourselves. I am here to support you. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance.
